Hi! I’m Natalie

Natalie Burns

B.Ed, B.Sc, Certified Teacher
Homeschool Teaching Strategist

With over 14 years of certified teaching experience — and as a homeschooling mom myself — I’ve supported thousands of homeschooling moms as they learn how to lead with confidence, clarity, and calm communication. My work focuses on helping parents raise resilient children by first strengthening the way we show up as teachers.

I care deeply about thinking, learning, and curiosity — but I’ve learned that none of those thrive without emotional safety. When pressure rises, learning shuts down. When parents feel steady, learning comes back online. That’s why my work now centers on resilience as the foundation for meaningful learning and healthy independence.

You’ll see me blend intuitive, relationship-based approaches with practical teaching strategy so you can connect more deeply with your child and apply what you’re learning right away. This isn’t about following someone else’s version of homeschooling. It’s about creating a rhythm that reflects who you are as a family, without constantly measuring yourself against expectations (even if they’re your own!).

After experiencing the limitations of rigid, compliance-based classrooms myself, I became passionate about helping parents move beyond “robot-like responses” and toward “razzle-dazzled” curiosity. Not by pushing harder, but by leading more intentionally.

I guide moms in re-igniting a love of learning by making homeschool life feel relevant, meaningful, and engaging again. As you grow steadier in how you teach and respond, you’ll see something powerful happen: your child’s initiative increases, learning deepens, and your relationship becomes more connected than you imagined.

You’ll also want to know these 5 random (but necessary) facts about me:

1️⃣ I won a dance contest during the 2010 Olympics judged by Tom Selleck. 🍿

2️⃣ I taught dance to pay my way through my Bachelor of Science (cell and molecular biology) and Bachelor of Education (curriculum development and design). 💃

3️⃣ I've been a certified teacher for over 14 years! I used to teach public high school biology, health science, and dance before I moved to homeschooling. 👩🏻‍🏫

4️⃣ My favourite night out activity is going to an escape room. 🔐

5️⃣ My husband, Zach and I have been married for 17 years and we homeschool our 3 children: Brooke, Caleb, and Emmett. We live in beautiful BC, Canada on a 2 acre homestead. ⛰️

"I have Natalie to thank for this bright light. Her view of how to teach our kids is exactly what we needed to feel confident - to put everything into action and have a community to talk with when I don't know how to handle a situation was exactly what I was looking for."

- Britany | Homeschooling Mom

“Natalie has been so encouraging with my homeschool journey. Natalie listened to my scattered thoughts and helped me organize them without judgement. I didn’t need to fit into a preset box. Her experience as a teacher and her passion for home learning shine through in our conversations. I’m so grateful for her guidance and advice.”

- Kasia | Homeschooling Mom

“Natalie has been instrumental in helping me learn to be more confident in homeschooling. One particular thing I really appreciate is that rather than telling me what to do, she asks me questions that cause me to think about the reasoning behind what I’m doing and what is important for my children to learn.”

How to Work With Me

If you’re looking for ongoing support, guidance, and a steady place to land as a homeschooling mom, Teaching Inspired is where we can work together.

This is the space for moms who are done reacting and ready to lead — not perfectly, not rigidly, but calmly and intentionally.

“I’m the teacher now!” isn’t about control or having all the answers.
It’s about trusting yourself enough to stay steady when things get hard, knowing how to respond without spiralling, and leading in a way that protects your relationship and your child’s love of learning.

Inside Teaching Inspired, we focus on the kind of homeschool teaching that actually holds up in real life — when children push back, emotions run high, and the plan you had in your head isn’t working anymore.

This is where confidence grows, resilience strengthens, and where learning starts to feel lighter because you have grounded joy again.

If that’s the kind of teacher you want to be, you’re in the right place.
